Ready for a secret?
Seriously. This one is good. Why? Because no one else is doing it.
That’s right … This is one of Cold Collar’s hallmark ideas, and it has the potential to be a game changer for you in your job search process.
What am I talking about?
The Cold Collar Career Assessment Quiz
(aka the Cold Collar Assessment).
In my search for the perfect tools to help people land perfect jobs, I discovered that career assessments can be used in a unique way to help you not only find the right job for you, but help you land that job too!
Yes, in this post, I am going to introduce you to a revolutionary idea. Sure, everyone knows how important it is to have an amazing resume and cover letter. But few people know how to put the icing on the cake. If you’re someone who is willing to go the extra mile to land the perfect job, the Cold Collar Assessment (You can purchase yours here) is a detail that can make your personal brand shine.
So what exactly is it?
The Cold Collar Assessment is a fantastic career assessment quiz designed specifically to help job seekers in several distinct ways.
The obvious way this Career Assessment Quiz can helpis by helping the test taker figure out what jobs may best fit their needs. While no one can really predict what jobs are right for you, this quiz, combined with a 10+ page evaluation tool called “Making Use of Your Assessment” can really help you nail down some careers that are right for you.
But, if you are in the search for an amazing job, that’s not even the best part!
See, the best thing about this assessment is that job seekers can use this quiz to help employers learn about who you are, what your skills are, and get an idea of what your performance will be like on the job. This assessment allows the target reader (usually a potential employer) to go deeper than the basic job experience and goals lists that they would demonstrate on your resume and cover letter. When it comes to getting hired, THAT, my friends is a revolutionary idea.
This assessment allows the employer to take a closer look at the how you may be wired, showing and demonstrating things like how you learn, how you interact with other people, and what makes you tick.
The reason this works so well is that it helps the employer minimize risk.
See, contrary to what you may think, employers are scared about the risks associated with hiring a new employee. When you are looking for a new job, it’s essential that you show the employers that you are not a risky candidate. (If you don’t believe me, just ask the headhunters.)
In fact, minimizing risk is so important to employers that many companies pay thousands upon thousands of dollars per candidate job assessments, just to get an idea of how candidates will perform after they start on the job.
But, the Cold Collar Career Assessment Quiz was not created to be sold to employers. You don’t have to worry about being charged thousands of dollars, and you don’t have to worry about it being “too corporate.” See, this is a tool that is designed for the individual (just like you), yet, it is also a tool that allows you to reverse the process and minimize employer risk when proactively sharing your own assessment with companies before or during the interview.
How do we know that employers will love it? Well, aside from our many raving fans who have already used it to help them find work they love, we are confident that this Assessment will help because it is a tool that is strikingly similar to what employers already use while they look for good employees. The Cold Collar Assessment is powered by The Berke Group, because we believe that they are the best in the industry.
Okay, so your natural next question is “How!?” If you actually take this career assessment, what exactly will it do to help you in your job search?
Well, there are actually a couple of ways.
First, it can help you nail your interview.
If you have the Cold Collar Assessment under your belt, its main function will be to help you articulate and categorize your strengths in a streamlined, coherent way to your employer.
No big deal? Actually, you’d be surprised at how difficult that can be. Let me ask you a few questions:
- How often do you think about what your strengths are?
- Are you an introvert or extrovert?
- Are you people-oriented or task-oriented?
- Do you look at the big picture or the details?
- What do each of these aspects say about your strengths and weaknesses?
- How do the combinations of these unique traits fit together to form a cohesive whole?
Even if you do know the immediate answers to these questions (and I can bet that you don’t), the Cold Collar Assessments still has a “one-up” on you: It is based on years of research, studying a wide number and variety of people.
(Disclaimer: OF COURSE, our assessment will not be able to “stick you in a box,” so to speak. We use strict categories to help you understand yourself better, not limit you. Each person is unique, and no test will be able to fully sum up your essence.)
That being said, a quality assessment can help you nail down nuances of your personality that you’ve never understood or been able to articulate before.
And in a high-pressure, lots-at-stake job search, a little more self-knowledge can make a big difference!
The second reason you should take an assessment is a little simpler: It will help YOU understand what kind of job will be a good fit!
Yes, this is a big deal! Ignite suggests that 95% of U.S. employees are in the wrong roles.
According to Deloitte’s Shift Index survey, 80% of employees don’t enjoy their work.
Can you relate to those statistics? Maybe you’re just out of college, and you’re not sure where to go. Maybe you’re 5-10 years down a career path, but you are starting to realize that your role just doesn’t fit you. Or, maybe you’ve had the same job for the last 25 years, and you’re ready for something new.
But … now what? How do you know where to go from here?
The Cold Collar Assessment can help you get the ball rolling. Not only will it help you figure out your aptitude, personality, and skills, we even have the capability to recommend specific jobs that will be a good fit for you!
You sold yet?
Good. Look, I know this may sound like we are only pushing our own buttons here; and you’re right, we are – because after lots of testing and research, we pretty darn convinced that our assessment is the best one out there for the struggling job seeker.
What is there to compare it to? Well, there are plenty of other quality personal assessments out there. The most well-known is of course MBTI aka “Myers-Briggs,” which is extremely comprehensive, testing you on a scale for four different personality continuums: introvert/extrovert, sensing/intuition, thinking/feeling, and judging/perceiving. From this continuum, you are given a unique four-letter result that gives you a picture of how you gain your energy, view the world, and make your decisions.
You may have also heard of the DISC profile, which is a bit simpler. It is made up of four distinct personality types, based on whether an individual is task-oriented or people-oriented, reserved or outgoing. It results in some poignant insights to an individual’s strengths set as well.
There are several others like Keirsey, Color Code, and TKI; but all of these share a common weakness: These assessments are NOT recommended to be used by those making a career choice or for employers who are hiring.
Ouch. Instead they are meant to be used for developing teams or leaders, or for resolving conflict.
So, we kept looking for something better. We checked out the career colleges assessment and the MAAP assessment, but they too didn’t make the cut. They were, OKAY, but they just were not good enough for what we thought would be best for our clients.
But, then we ran across the Berke Assessment, and we knew right away that we had found something special for employers and employees. That’s why, after some serious consideration, we asked them to power our own assessment program. With their help, what we now can offer through the Cold Collar Assessment is an amazing test that is specifically designed to help you demonstrate and prove your intangible personally traits, inborn skills, and your unique intelligence. In simper terms, our assessment helps the reader get crystal clear information that can help them see your potential as an employee!
Employers love this test!
When you sign up for the Cold Collar Assessment, you’ll be provided with your own assessment profile. But, it doesn’t stop there! With every purchase, we’ve gone the extra mile and added quite a bit to what Berke provides us. By taking the inverse process of the test, we’ve created a pretty helpful document (the 10+ page one we mentioned earlier) that, when paired with the assessment, can really help struggling job seekers evaluate what jobs or types of jobs might be a good fit for their unique results. Or, in simper terms, this Assessment can help you decide on a career that is a good fit for your unique traits!
Do I need to spell it out again? This assessment is amazing! It does a killer job helping you evaluate your personal brand by helping you think about yourself in terms of four major areas that will greatly impact your satisfaction in your career.
The test was originally designed and perfected by high level PhDs. They developed (and continually perfect) their software from a purely scientific, numeric, and measurable way. It’s not just the same ol’ fluff that anyone can observe, but it is instead a predictive high-level program that helps employers know what concerns to have and what questions to ask when they hire.
The Cold Collar Career Assessment Quiz is a test you can use to measure and prove your personality, skills, aptitudes, interests and values, and evaluate how that translates in to fitting job opportunities. From there, you can hand off your Assessment to interested employers to help them really understand and believe that you are who you say you are. Remember how important that is? Minimizing their risk? … Yea, it’s pretty important.
